Kailee and her 7-year-old colt Jimmy wait paitiently behind the starting gate April 16. Both of their nerves are heavy with anticipation as their eyes stare down the first barrel. In a flash they are off. Jimmy kicks the soft dirt of Laramie’s arena far behind him with all the primal power in his back legs. Kailee’s dad, Scott, stands off to the side and hollers encouragement as they pick up speed.
