Bolln 2015

26th annual Bolln Tournament

Zack Andrews and the No. 1 Douglas Cats open up the 26th annual Bolln Tournament tonight at 5 p.m. when they host the Torrington Tigers at Nida Field.

Douglas (23-19, 5-3) wrapped up the regular season crown in the A Northeast after knocking off the Gillette Rustlers 3-1 Monday night. Led by the right arms of Zack Slone, Stryker Davies and Austin Zimmer, Douglas has won 6 of its last 8 games. Riverton, Green River and Rawlins will also take part in the tournament, which is dedicated to the memory of Britton and Butch Bolln.

Extra Points

Tonight, before the Cats take the field against Torrington, the Douglas Youth Recreation Commission will recognize longtime K2 sports broadcaster George Kay, who will throw the tournament's first pitch.

Kay, who started his broadcasting career in 1966 with KTWO radio and television, has interviewed some of the biggest names in sports and politics from President Richard Nixon to Pete Rose. Kay retired from broadcasting in 2004 and now makes his home in Douglas. The first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. after team introductions.
